One of the UK's first P2PE roll-outs, for a major DIY retailer
Martin Brodie-Lynch, Verifone
The challenge
A leading UK DIY and home improvement retailer needed to migrate its entire in-store payment estate, some 5,000 Point of Interaction devices, to Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE). It was one of the first roll-outs of its kind in the UK. With payment security regulation tightening, the migration had to be delivered safely across a large, dispersed store estate without disrupting trading.
What I did
I took full project management ownership, from store-by-store roll-out planning through implementation and go-live support. When deployment issues threatened timelines and trading continuity, my team and I managed remediation directly, running night shifts for eight consecutive weeks so every fix was made outside trading hours. I then designed and embedded new BAU processes for key injection and terminal deployment, so the retailer's own teams could sustain and scale the estate.
The result
A successful national P2PE roll-out with zero disruption to trading, leaving a more secure payment estate the retailer can run independently.
